capital of the former princely state of Marwar, is now the second
largest city of Rajasthan. The monuments, temples and gardens of
Jodhpur depict a multi-faceted grandeur. Some of the interesting
places which one can visit include Mehrangarh fort, Jaswant Thada,
Umaid Bhavan Palace, Mandore, Clock Tower, Sardar Market and Osian
Temple. The Marwar Festival held annually is a major attraction of
this place.
 Jaisalmer :
It's a marvel of beautiful culture and harsh climatic conditions,
together amounting to a memorable experience. The major attraction
is Jaisalmer Fort, standing proud to a height of hundred meters over
the city with its 99 bastions which is a splendid sight in the
afternoon sun. The other attractions at this place are Godsisar
lake, the pagoda like Tazia tower, various Havelis, Wood Fossil
park, Desert national Park etc. One can get the joy of camel rides
on the Sam Sand Dunes 42 kms from here.
Bikaner : A
small desert town known for its hand block printing industry, carved
wooden furniture and colourful costumes worn by its friendly people.
The sightseeing places are Junagarh fort, Lalgarh Palace,
Bhandeshwar and Sandeshwar temples, Devi Kund etc. |
