Saurashtra Darshan is
the weekly tour conducted by Gujarat Tourism. The 4 nights / 5 day
tour covers various cities and sights covering western coast of
Gujarat known as Saurashtra. The tour starts at Ahmedabad and its
first destination is Rajkot, a town about 215 kms away. The tour
proceeds to city of Jamnagar where one can enjoy watching the
flamingos in the Ranmal Lake and visit to the famous Lakhota Fort.
The next destination is Dwarka, the western most point of India.
Dwarka is famous for its Dwarkadhish temple and beautiful sea. The
tour also takes you to Beyt Dwark, an island about 30 kms. into the
sea.
The next destination is Porbandar. It is a name associated with
Gandhiji’s birthplace. Other places of interest here are Kirti
Mandir - a small museum that recreates the life and times of
Gandhiji and Maharaja’s Hazur Palace.
Other interesting places covered in this tour are visit to Somnath
Temple, visit to Sasan-Gir, a home to the asiatic lions. On the
fourth day the tour visits Junagarh where one can see various
historical forts, Durbar Hall Museum and Shatrunjay Temples and
Lothal, the excavated remains of an ancient Harappan settlement.
Finally the tour ends at Ahmedabad. |
